Biography
Place of Birth: California, United States.
Born in Southern California, “Teacher” was raised by his hard working father and mother. The town he grew up in was over run by violent gangs. It was kind of a “grow up quick” and “get tough fast” or you didn’t survive environment.
When entering his early teens, tragedy struck the family when his father was murdered. Still tormented by his father’s unexpected death, he struggled to continue his education. It was in these white academic institutions where he was subjected to aggressive racism by students and suffered disparaging taunts by of some of his educators. This situation only grew worse and racially motivated fights became more and more intense. This eventually caused him to be moved from school to school throughout his young academic years. All of this and other severe situations caused him to become more of a darker, distrustful, and very aggressive young man.
Along the way, his mother arranged to send him to a Native American community where she hoped that if he was exposed to the path of the Native, he might discover his better self and begin to find peace. There he learned many of the teachings and philosophies that motivate and guide him today. Along the footpath of his journey he was able to lessen being at war with himself and those around him and to become a man who seeks resolution to conflicts. Many people have asked him what the turning point was in his life. His answer is, “I was tired of seeing to many of my friends die due to violence and unwise choices.”
Sometimes a few people may see him as uncompromising and unyielding, but those who take the time to know him discover many unique facets to the makeup of his character as well as his sharp edged humor.
He has a deep passion for music of many types. He enjoys Native music as well as mainstream Rock-n-Roll. At some time in the past he had an active involvement in the creation of music and its presentation. He often attends various Native pow-wows around the country to enjoy the culture, art, and people.
In 2008, he participated in the sixth episode of Ricochet Television’s, “Unbreakable.” The presenter was Benedict Allen, the “Unbreakables” in that episode were Angus Morison, Barnaby Race, David Bain, Frazer Herald and Matt Taylor. It was a challenging environment in the Florida Everglades, populated with alligators, venomous snakes, and many other potential dangers to the “Unbreakables.”
